Terms of Service

Plain-language terms for using the qrsvg.app generator, accounts, dynamic codes and API.

Last updated: 7 September 2026

1. Agreement

By using qrsvg.app (the “Service”) you agree to these terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

The Service lets you generate QR codes in your browser, style them and download them in several formats. It also offers optional accounts for saving codes, dynamic QR codes that redirect through our domain and collect scan statistics, bulk generation, and a public HTTP API. We may add, change or remove features at any time.

3. Free use and advertising

Generating and downloading QR codes is free and requires no account. The Service is funded by advertising. You agree not to interfere with the display of advertisements in ways that violate the advertising provider’s policies (for example, by generating fraudulent clicks or impressions). Using a content blocker for your own browsing is not a violation of these terms.

4. Your content and responsibility

You are solely responsible for the data you encode in QR codes and for the destinations of dynamic codes, including their legality, accuracy and any rights of third parties. You must not use the Service to create codes that link to or contain malware, phishing, fraud, illegal content, content that infringes intellectual property, harassment, or anything that violates applicable law or the rights of others. We may disable dynamic codes or accounts that we reasonably believe breach this section, with or without notice.

You retain all rights to the QR codes you create. Because the codes are generated by deterministic rules from your input, we claim no ownership in the output and grant you the right to use downloaded files for any lawful purpose, commercial or not, without attribution.

5. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address and keep your sign-in method secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time from the dashboard; saved codes and their statistics are deleted with it, and dynamic codes stop redirecting. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or that have been inactive for more than 24 months, after notice by email.

6. Dynamic QR codes

Dynamic codes depend on our redirect service being online. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, and we are not liable for losses caused by downtime, changes to the redirect domain or the termination of the Service. For critical, long-lived print runs consider a static code or your own domain. Scan statistics are provided as-is and may be incomplete (for example, when scanners block referrers or when location cannot be determined).

7. API fair use

The public API at /api/qr is free for reasonable use, currently limited to 60 requests per minute per IP address. Requests beyond the limit receive HTTP 429. You must not circumvent rate limits, resell the API as your own service, or use it in a way that degrades the Service for others. Cache responses where you can; outputs are deterministic and cacheable. We may change limits, parameters or formats with reasonable notice on the API documentation page. High-volume users are encouraged to self-host the open-source project.

8. Acceptable use

  • Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users’ data or our infrastructure.
  • Do not scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site in ways that place unreasonable load on it.
  • Do not use the Service to send spam or to build lists of scanned users.
  • Do not misrepresent your affiliation with qrsvg.app.

9. Intellectual property

The Service’s source code is published under an open-source licence at github.com/nsilviu/qr-code-app; that licence governs the code. The qrsvg.app name, logo and the content of this website (guides, documentation) are ours and may not be copied for competing services without permission. Brief quotations with a link are fine.

10. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Always test a QR code with real devices before printing or distributing it. We do not warrant that codes will scan on every device, that the Service will be error-free, or that statistics will be accurate.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free service is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages and reasonable costs arising from your content, your dynamic-code destinations or your breach of these terms.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, or discontinue the Service, for breach of these terms or for any reason with reasonable notice where practicable. Sections 4, 9 to 12 and 14 survive termination.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Romania and applicable European Union law. Disputes are subject to the courts of Bucharest, Romania, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules that let you bring a claim in your country of residence. EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. Continued use after a change means you accept it. Material changes affecting account holders will be announced by email or in the dashboard.
